SHIPPING INFORMATION
We here at Uncle Sam’s Discus offer a few different ways of delivering your fish. After placing an order for your fish we ask that you leave a contact number. You will be contacted within 24 hours to arrange the best shipping date and options for your particular situation. These are the three options that we currently offer.

Airport to Airport Shipping via Southwest Airlines Cargo

Shipping airport to airport is one of our preferred methods of shipping you your fish. It offers the shortest transit times, which helps ensure that you receive the healthiest fish possible. For Larger shipments it can be a little cheaper then UPS Priority Overnight. If you live near an international airport Southwest Airlines most likely offers their cargo services. We will ship the fish from LAX to your nearest airport. Once the fish arrives at your local airport you simply go to the South West Cargo service terminal and pick up your box of fish. Prior to shipping the fish, we will be able to give you the price and an estimated time of arrival. Southwest has flights running 24 hours a day which enables us to pick the best flight that works with your schedule. Again we love southwest airlines because of their amazingly short transit times. We have shipped fish across the country and completed the customer pick up in as little ten hours. West coast customers can enjoy transit times as short as 4 hours.

UPS Next Day Air

We offer delivery directly to your doorstep via UPS next Day Air. We ship via UPS Next Day Air Monday through Thursday only. Which gives you a Tuesday through Friday delivery option. We will not ship any fish for Saturday delivery as Fridays are quite busy for UPS. We will not ship fish via UPS 2-day air, express saver or ground. UPS rates vary depending on where you live and how many fish you are purchasing. You will be able to see your shipping cost prior to placing your order. It is important that you are home to receive delivery of your fish. If you are unable to be home to receive delivery, we recommend the Hold for Pick Up option. With the Hold for Pick up option you can pick up your fish at your local UPS hub.

Local Pick Up

This is hands down the best method for you to receive your fish. Unfortunately, we know that not all of our customer will be able to come and pick up their fish. If you are local, we would love to have you come and pick your fish from our facility. We are located in Canoga Park California. Arrival of the Fish From Malaysia

Prior to the fish being shipped from Malaysia they are put through a 21-day quarantine. After this initial quarantine they are packed and shipped to LAX airport. Once they arrive in the USA we take the fish directly to our facility and start our own 14-21 day quarantine process. After the quarantine process at our facility is complete we inspect each fish individually to ensure that any damaged fish do not get put on the market. Our main goal here at Uncle Sam’s Discus is to ensure that we are only selling good healthy fish.

Customer Quarantine and Acclimation

Upon receiving your fish from us we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you do your own quarantine on the fish. First start by setting up a separate tank in a different room than your current tank. Set your temperature to 82-86 degrees. Also make sure you have aeration. Remove the fish from the shipping box and cut the top of the bag with scissors or a blade. Then GENTLY pour the fish into a separate bucket or container. Avoid reaching into the bag as you can damage the fish trying to pull them out. Then remove the fish from the shipping water bucket and then place them in a separate bucket with water from your quarantine tank. Allow the fish to sit in this bucket for a couple of minutes. Then remove the fish from the second bucket and place in your quarantine tank. Discard the water from both buckets. DO NOT put any of the shipping water into the quarantine tank. Avoid using any strong lighting on the fish for the first few days of quarantine. Try and keep the noise and traffic low around the quarantine tank to allow the fish to rest. If your fish are laying down on the bottom of the tank do not panic. Fish that get stressed during the shipping process will need to rest for a few hours. After a few hours the fish should upright itself. DO NOT FEED your fish during the first 24 hours of the quarantine process. Feed on the second day of your fish being in the quarantine tank. Remember to not over feed! Keeping your water quality good is very important during the quarantine process. Do your water changes and make sure that you keep your tank clean and free of any uneaten food and fish waste. We recommend that you keep your new fish in quarantine for at least 4 weeks. Remember when it comes to quarantine the longer the better! We encourage all of our customers to feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. You can reach us at our facility via phone or email. We love to help our customers in any way we can. So again fell free to gives a call anytime.
